Cooling Castle Barn: A Modern Wedding Venue Website Built to Evolve
Cooling Castle Barn is an established wedding venue in Cooling, Rochester, Kent, but its existing Squarespace website was ready for a complete refresh.
Probeck redesigned the website and rebuilt it using WordPress and Elementor Pro, creating a modern online experience that showcases the venue while giving the team greater control over its content.
From reusable blog and supplier templates to custom directory functionality and SEO migration work, the result is a website designed to support both prospective couples and the people managing it.

The Challenge
A Website That Needed to Reflect the Venue
Cooling Castle Barn already had an established online presence through Squarespace, but the customer wanted a complete refresh to bring the design, content and functionality up to modern standards.
A wedding venue website has to support both inspiration and practical decision-making. Prospective couples want to explore the setting, understand packages and pricing, view accommodation, find suppliers and answer important questions before arranging a viewing.
The website therefore needed to present a substantial amount of information without becoming difficult to navigate.
At the same time, the team needed to continue publishing useful articles and managing its recommended suppliers without relying on a developer for every update.
The challenge was to deliver a visually refreshed wedding venue website while making ongoing content management straightforward.
The Redesign
Bringing the Website Up to Modern Standards
Probeck redesigned Cooling Castle Barn’s website to create a more contemporary experience centred on the venue and the questions prospective couples ask.
The design gives photography an important role while keeping wedding packages, accommodation and planning information easy to find.
The objective was not simply to create an attractive digital brochure. Detailed, readable content helps couples understand what the venue offers and decide whether arranging a viewing is the right next step.
This answer-first approach also gives search engines and AI systems clear page content to interpret.
The project is an example of website design and development shaped around visitor intent, supported by a manageable WordPress website rather than treating platform choice as the starting point.
Why WordPress?
Choosing the Right Platform for the Customer
WordPress with Elementor Pro was selected because content management and long-term flexibility were important requirements for this project.
Cooling Castle Barn needed to maintain its own articles and recommended supplier information. WordPress provides a suitable content-management foundation, while Elementor Pro supports reusable templates that present new entries consistently.
The team can update content without rebuilding the design of each page.
Probeck develops both bespoke WordPress websites and bespoke-coded websites. Neither approach is universally better, and Squarespace remains suitable for many businesses. The technology should follow the content, editing and functionality requirements.
For Cooling Castle Barn, WordPress was an appropriate fit for a content-rich website intended to evolve over time.

Reusable Content Templates
Making It Easier to Keep the Website Updated
A website refresh should not create unnecessary ongoing work for the customer.
Probeck created reusable Elementor Pro templates for blog articles and recommended suppliers. The templates handle the presentation while the venue team manages the underlying content through WordPress.
Blog articles
Wedding inspiration, advice and other useful content can be published without manually designing every article page.
Recommended suppliers
Supplier records are managed separately so the directory remains structured and distinct from editorial content.
The distinction matters because articles and suppliers serve different visitor needs, even though both benefit from consistent custom WordPress templates.
Fair Supplier Visibility
Giving Every Recommended Supplier a Fair Opportunity
Cooling Castle Barn works with recommended businesses across photography, flowers, styling, entertainment and other wedding services.
The order of a directory can influence which entries visitors notice first. Rather than permanently giving the same suppliers the most prominent positions, Probeck introduced a randomised display order.
Each time the directory is loaded, the order changes. This gives every listed supplier an equal opportunity to appear in different positions and supports fair and impartial supplier visibility.
The function does not guarantee equal clicks, enquiries or exposure. It addresses the narrower and practical requirement of avoiding one fixed order.
Small custom function, clear purpose: tailor the website to the customer’s real requirement instead of accepting the default listing behaviour.

SEO and Website Migration
Protecting Existing Routes While Building for the Future
Moving an established website from Squarespace to WordPress involves more than publishing a new design.
Existing URLs may already appear in search results or be linked from other websites. Probeck reviewed the previous structure and implemented redirects where appropriate so relevant old routes could lead visitors to the corresponding new content.
The goal was to launch with appropriate technical SEO foundations. Metadata, redirects and structured data do not guarantee search visibility or enhanced results.
The virtual tour page includes VideoObject structured data describing the embedded video, helping search systems understand that content without guaranteeing enhanced results.
The website redesign versus rebuild guide explains the wider decision, including when a platform migration is justified and what needs protecting during the change.
Helping Couples Decide
More Than a Digital Brochure
Attractive photography introduces the venue, but couples also need practical answers.
Dedicated pricing and package information helps visitors understand their options. Frequently asked questions cover common planning queries, while the virtual tour makes it possible to explore the venue remotely.
Real weddings, planning advice and recommended suppliers add useful context as couples begin shaping their day.
Together, these sections make the website a decision-support resource as well as a visual showcase.
The Result
A Modern Website the Team Can Continue to Develop
The completed project gives Cooling Castle Barn a refreshed online presence that better represents the venue and the information prospective couples need.
Moving from Squarespace to WordPress gives the team a flexible way to manage its content. Reusable templates keep articles and supplier pages consistent without requiring every entry to be designed individually.
The custom supplier directory offers a fair and impartial way to present recommended businesses, while the website’s structure, redirects, metadata and structured data provide sound foundations for continued development.
For Probeck, the project demonstrates that successful website development is not only about improving the appearance. It also means choosing a suitable platform, understanding how the customer needs to manage content and building practical functionality around those requirements.
